The Opportunity
This position reports to the Director of Education and Community Engagement. The Education Manager oversees the operations of Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s four school-based education programs: KinderKonzerts, Music in the Schools, Young People’s Concerts, and Band and Orchestra Clinics. The Education Manager establishes and builds relationships with school administrators, music teachers, and district coordinators and manages school registration, scheduling, and payment including soliciting registrations, scheduling school performances, distributing curriculum, sending deadline reminders, processing purchase orders and payments, creating seating charts, and sending invoices and surveys.
Duties and Responsibilities:
– Communicate with teachers and schools to build relationships and solicit school registrations.
– Manage the school registration process.
– Payment processing: quotes, purchase orders, invoices, receipts.
– Assist Director of Education in management of school events and field trips, coordinating event preparation, recruiting, and directing volunteers.
– Create PowerPoint presentations and visual aids for performances.
– Work closely with conductors, actors and musicians in preparation for education performances.
– Collaborate with other departments in coordination of field trips and other events and adhere to the musicians’ Collective Bargaining Agreement.
– Create lesson plans and activities in alignment with the overall curriculum, state music standards, and Arizona College and Career Ready Standards.
– Meet regularly with the Director of Education to discuss progress and difficulties.
– Communicate with TSO musicians through event reminders, program building, service memos and program feedback following ensemble observations.
– Data entry and calendar management in Archtics software for ticketing, OPAS for calendar management, Google Forms and Sheets for registrations and surveys, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for mail merge and email.
– Participates in non-education events such as staffing TSO concerts and community events.
– Solicit Tax Credit assistance requests for Title 1 schools and manage contribution collection and distribution.
– Work closely with Tucson Symphony Orchestra League, a volunteer support organization, in support of education programs.
– Additional duties as assigned.
