Call to Artists | Artist-in-Residence Program at CATALYST Creative Collective

The Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance (SAACA) is seeking community-minded artists for a flexible Artist-in-Residence program at CATALYST Creative Collective, located in the Tucson Mall. This program offers artists a unique opportunity to create and demonstrate their work in an open studio setting while engaging the community through workshops, collaboration, and artist talks. The Artist-in-Residence will also serve as a CATALYST ambassador, educating the public about SAACA’s mission and the creative opportunities at CATALYST.

Program Details:
• Eligibility: Open to individual artists, collaborative groups, and organizations across all disciplines. Artists must be at least 25 years old.
• Residency Length: Flexible 1-2 months, with a minimum of 8 hours per week, primarily on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays.
• Workspaces Available: Multiple classrooms, music and digital media lab, teaching kitchen, performance spaces, and community gathering spaces.
• Artist Benefits: Use of space for creating, exhibiting, and performing, classroom availability for workshops, and promotion through CATALYST’s digital platforms.

Important Dates:
• Applications Accepted: Rolling basis
• Residency Notification: Artists will be notified no later than 2 months after applying.
• Residency Period: Artist selects month of residency in coordination with CATALYST staff.

• Visual Art
• Music
• Performance
• Digital Media
• Mixed Media

Program Requirements:
• Create, demonstrate, or showcase art in an open studio environment.
• Engage with the public and educate about CATALYST.
• Host a community event, workshop, or presentation at the end of the residency.
• Follow CATALYST’s opening/closing procedures and complete key-holder orientation.
• Obtain General Liability Insurance (approx. $45/mo).
