POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Marketing and Media is the driving force behind all marketing and patron communications related to ticket sales activities for Childsplay, from ticketing to public performances and school field trip performances to the Childsplay Academy, the candidate positions the company as an essential arts activity for families and schools. Working closely with the Managing Director, Artistic Director, Education Directors and the creative production teams, the position anchors the theatre in the community ensuring our creative mission continues far into the future.
Responsibilities:
- Develop Marketing Strategies: Create comprehensive marketing plans for each production and Childsplay’s various constituencies, incorporating digital, print, social media, and grassroots tactics to reach diverse audiences.
- Brand Management: Maintain and enhance the theatre’s brand identity across all marketing materials and communications including supervision of contract graphic artist, company photographer, and videographer.
- Website Management: Experience with front and back-end website management
- Front of House Management: The position oversees house management and box office services provided by the Herberger Theater Center.
- Customer Relationship Management Systems: Experience with Patron Manager or like CRM System including generating reports and list management.
- Audience Engagement: Cultivate relationships with current and potential patrons through targeted outreach, special events, and community partnerships.
- Digital Marketing: Oversee the theatre’s digital presence, including website management, email marketing campaigns, and social media channels.
- Advertising and Promotion: Coordinate advertising placements, negotiate media partnerships, and oversee the creation of promotional materials such as direct mail, print ads, and digital ads.
- Data Analysis: Utilize analytics tools to track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, measure audience engagement, and make data-driven decisions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with artistic, development, and administrative staff to align marketing efforts with organizational goals and objectives.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maximize impact.
Qualifications:
- Some post-secondary education in marketing, communications, or related field and/or a minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing, preferably in the arts or non-profit sector.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing strategies and social media platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas and solutions.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Experience with graphic design and/or video editing software is a plus.
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
- Physical demands are in line with a modern office environment. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Regular on-site attendance is required. Must be available to work evening and weekend events.
- The ability to independently travel to the Tempe office and the Herberger Theater Center as well as other sites in and around the Phoenix metro area are required.
- Some meetings and events may occur outside of the usual workday and on weekends and evenings.
Additional Duties may be required to fulfill the goals and mission of the organization and will be assigned by the Managing Director.
This is an exempt position with a salary range of $60,000 to $65,000 DOE and includes a plethora of benefits including PTO, health insurance, and professional development opportunities.
